Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is also referred to as Antonietta Gonzalez-Collins in both the United States as well as Mexico, is a Mexican-American sportscaster. Her current role is working as a sportscaster at ESPN, working as anchor for SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She joined ESPN as a news anchor in 2016. Her mother is the television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was bi-lingual since nine years old a useful ability that allowed her to secure her first job in the production department at Univision in Miami and allowed her to work with the producers of national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then, in St. Petersburg, she was then employed as a reporter by the CBS station as a sports journalist. Also, she was the Spanish reporter on the newscast at 5 p.m. and anchor and reporter on the newscast from nine p.m. on English as well as also a Spanish reporter for 10 p.m. The duties of anchoring for weather or sports were often asked for. Later, she was anchor and reporter at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She reported on the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. The family in 1992 left Mexico and moved to Miami. In 1992, her parents divorced then shortly thereafter in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo, a naval engineer who died in 2006 after suffering from kidney cancer. On a trip, Antonietta stayed at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins brother had recently been offered an offer to work. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school however, she had a clear idea of what she wanted to do in her future career. She went to Mount Union University in order to find out if the school was suitable for her. She loved the campus. The university also provided her with the program she was interested in. When she completed her high school education she enrolled in the university to study media studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor - was also the manager at WRMU (91.1 FM) in which she was a part of. He inspired her to have confidence and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply influenced her, and she determined to fulfill his standards and never fail him.
